You know the Drill

Plot:
Constable Ichabod Crane of the New York police arrives in the small village of Sleepy Hollow in 1799 to solve a mystery of murders. With all the victims found with their heads missing, everybody in Sleepy Hollow is talking about the ghost of the "headless horseman" who is out in the woods seeking revenge for his murder many years ago. Crane, believing only in logic, refuses to believe the public's theory about the horseman and begins his investigations, only to find his faith shattered when he himself encounters the headless horseman. A magical tale of sense against myth.

Pros:

-
It is soooo imaginative (Can you expect anything else from Tim Burton...)

-So many decapitated heads... so little time (18 in all)

-GREAT PERFORMANCES! Johnny Depp even though he is a hero... is creepy to me...

Cons:
-Very graphic (lke I said.... so many decapitated heads... so little time)
(not sutible for younger ones)
- A little hard to follow with all the witchcraft going on...

-Some parts are a little um....... out there.... ( so again... very hard to follow)

MY VERDICT: BUY IT!

Where to buy: At Amazon

I absolutely love Depp's performance in this. All of the subtle I feel sick looks! Very funny! Oh well, I'm biased cuz I just love Depp in most stuff.

I totally agree, this is definitley one of my favorite films. It was directed beautifully--the story flows well, all the cast was good in their parts, the set/costume was perfect, and of course the photography and shots were amazing.

Even though it seems that most of this movie is simple various shades of gray, it is still one of the most visually appealing horror movies of all time. And not just because of Johnny Depp. tongue.gif

This is definitely one of the most beautiful films no arguement there. I really enjoy this movie and watching christopher walken as the headless horsemen, actually christopher walken as anything in any movie, is always fun. I am a huge fan of the short story "the legend of sleepy hollow" so I was very excited when I heard Tim Burton was going to be making it into a film. I've seen every version that has ever been made, including Jeff Goldblum in a tv version back in the 80's that wasn't too bad. In fact, the Goldblum films Brom Bones had one of the best quotes, "If you want what you get, and you get what you want, is the getting ever as good as the wanting or is the wanting ever as bad as the getting?" I still scratch my head over that one. Though the Burton version is very different from the book. I get a kick out of most of the movie versions making Katrina fall in love with Ichabod, like he is this great guy, when in the book Ichabod was just trying to marry her to aquire her father's farm and money. Johnny Depp's Ichabod is far more logical than the original. His Ichabod is trying to prove everything wrong with his logic, where the original was nothing more than a big chicken who was very superstitious lol. I still find it funny that the Disney film narrated by Bing Crosby is still one of the closest adaptions of the book. However, that said I did love this movie because who can't love the headless horsemen!! Add to the fact the nice cameo by Christopher Lee at the begining and how can you go wrong? Well, I suppose if you watched the film "The Hollow" with a backstreet boy against the horsemen you can screw it up hehe. There was another Legend of Sleepy Hollow made for tv in 1999 that was pretty good starring Brent Carver as Ichabod. Now most of the other actors are very poor and ham it up for the camera, but Carver plays a pretty darn good Ichabod and looks a lot like the one from the disney version. If you can get past the hammy tv actors it's a fun watch that is closer to the book. Definitely not in the same league as Burton's Sleepy Hollow though.

Yeah, this is one of my favorite Tim Burton movies. I actually went to see it 3 times in theaters. I don't often see movies multiple times in theaters. Actually, the only thing that I didn't like was Christina Ricci's terrible fake accent and Miranda Richardson's performance. I didn't think that it was her best performance or anywhere near it.
